FAFSA Deadline Extended – Still Need Help?
By Bill Wozniak
Hoosiers are getting a little extra time to file their FAFSA’s and still qualify for grants provided by the state of Indiana.
On Thursday, March 16th, the Indiana Commissioner for Higher Education, Teresa Lubbers, announced that the deadline for Indiana Financial Aid would be extended to April 15th, 2017. “All prospective college students – whether they’re a high school senior, current college student or a returning adult – should complete the FAFSA as soon as possible.”
This extension is due to technical errors with the IRS Data Retrieval Tool inside the FAFSA that allows you to link your 2015 taxes with your FAFSA. With this tool being deactivated for the time being, students and parents will have to manually enter their 2015 tax information into the form. We know entering this tax info can create some confusion and questions.
The INvestEd team of experts can help answer any questions you might have with filing the FAFSA! If you are nervous about getting it right, or have any questions at all, connect with us via email at Outreach@INvestEdIndiana.org or phone (317-715-9007). We’ve helped thousands of students file the FAFSA and maximize the financial aid needed to pay for college!
We hope all families that planned to file did so by March 10th. If for any reason you didn’t, make sure to not miss this new deadline of April 15th!
